Children's book collection of Lucille Ogle. ca. 1920-1970.

Collection comprises the library of children's book editor and author Lucille Ogle and reflects her work for several publishing companies and presses, including Harter, Western, Golden, and Artists & Writers, and her interest in the design, publication, and marketing of children's books and young adult literature. Collection includes 720 Little golden books, 1942-1960, including early printings, variant editions, and foreign press editions, as well as encyclopedias, dictionaries, nature guides, and instructional books for young adults published by Golden, Western, Artists & Writers and others. Collection includes miniature books, pop-up books, cut-out books, scented books, shaped books, and toy and movable books, as well as sound recordings, games, kits, and puzzles published by Golden Press and others. Collection also includes 20 containers of catalogs, promotional materials, and periodicals from children's books publishers and professional associations, arranged by name of organization, which present an overview of children's book publishing, 1950-1970, and reflect Ogle's involvement with graphic arts and education associations. Collection includes mock-ups and author and illustrator autograph presentation copies. Illustrators prominent in the collection include Eloise Burns Wilkin, Tibor Gergely, Mel Crawford, Corinne Malvern, Patricia and Richard Scarry, Feodor Rojankovsky, Gustaf Tenggren, and J.P. Miller.

Lucille Edith Ogle (1904-1988) was an author and editor of children's books and a publishing company executive. She co-created the Little golden books series of children's books with George Duplaix.
